Edie FW 2023
“Edie Sedgwick was a tormented soul, a summary of all the tragic women who came before her and I think it was this strength and depth of hers that impressed Andy Warhol, so much bonding her to him with a platonic love so deep that it could only lead to obsession.”
Thus begins Simone Tessadori while she, illustrating the moodboard between fabrics and designs, tells the inspiration of the FW23 collection dedicated to the figure of Edie Sedgwick.
A figure that apparently takes second place to that of Andy Warhol but who strongly contributed to the creative drive of the King of Pop Art.
The Designer decides to tell this love as strong as it is fragile, a bit like Edie and a bit like “‘Cupid and Psyche” by Antonio Canova, the wonderful work that the Master has decided to represent in a moment of unfinished love, eternally in tension.
Marble, a material masterfully worked by Canova, perfectly represents Edie’s soul, apparently strong for everything Life has presented to her, but if struck in its weak point, capable of collapsing into a thousand pieces.
These sensations translate into intense and material drapes like those that Maestro Canova imprinted on the garments of his seggetti, as if to make them come to life also through this hyper-realistic materiality.
Fabrics that wrap around her body develop on refined and feminine silhouettes, alternating with androgynous looks that evoke Edie’s way of dressing, capable of an extremely sophisticated sensuality.
These are the premises for a collection that focuses on the figure of this incredible woman, so enigmatic and so central to the Factory scene and 60s New York.
The elegance that belongs to her coming from the rigid education she received from her, gives her that ability to play and experiment with fashion that makes her so iconic and inimitable.
A Woman, decidedly Tessadori.
